Cut It Out!

Friday night saw me celebrating my cousins birthday at a little party in her flat. It was my first time there and one thing that really caught my eye was the view ^^. My blurry picture doesn't do it justice but Canary Wharf at night is just beautiful! I guess we could call it the Wall Street of London and right there, in that moment, I thought about what it would take for me to get there...

Whilst there are things we need to take on in order to succeed, there are also things we need to cut out. Here a just a few things I'm trying to cut out in order to reach my goals both in terms of success but also in terms of the person I want to be...

1. Excuses
More often than not you can find a reason to not do something: the weather, the time you'll have to get up, is anyone else going? etc. But, if you really want to do something and a certain opportunity arises that can help you real your goal - do it! Making excuses only sets you back.
Bare in mind though, not every opportunity will be the right one for you and there is nothing wrong with turning things down so long as your reasons are valid.
Excuses also go in the other direction - "Everyone's going" isn't reason enough for you to go... #foodforthought.

2. Negativity
Both in terms of your own attitude and the people/atmospheres you choose to surround yourself with.
A negative mind will do nothing for you. If you don't even believe in yourself why should anyone else? Sure - things may not always go to plan but once you give up on yourself nothing will go to plan. Negative people also need to be cut out. They come in all different forms so pay attention and be very particular about those you hold close. Be careful though, don't confuse a 'real' person for a negative person. Keep the people who may not always agree with you, who might challenge your thinking but you know always have your back!

3. Insecurity
Get to know yourself and get you know yourself well. Learn to love yourself, flaws and all. The reality is there will always be someone better; more attractive, more wealthy, more popular, stronger in their faith... It doesn't matter! Pay attention to your own journey and strive to be the best version of you not a mediocre version of them! Become confident in who you are and who you want be. Confident, not arrogant!

4. Laziness & Procrastination
Are you really in a position to be spending countless hours watching useless shows? Do you really have time to spend every night out clubbing? Sometimes I have to just ask myself these questions. There's nothing wrong with enjoying yourself, in fact I think it's important to get some down time to avoid becoming a robotic workaholic BUT make sure you get the things you need to done first. Prioritise that which help you get better and work hard!

We all need a reality check sometimes. Look at your life, what's going well, what's not going the way you'd hoped and what can you do to change it?

P.s. a little blog update: This started off as a fashion blog but writing about clothes wasn't fulfilling enough for me & I'm definitely no expert LOL. Instead I'll just document some outfits I wear during the week and then write a post more related to life in general. Bare in mind, I'm only 20 and my advice is totally subjective so feel free to disagree down below, I'm always interested in exploring different concepts.

Stay Blessed,
Selorm xo.
